In October 2009 MediTek Inc opened its offices in Apex, North Carolina, with the aim of providing the North America homecare market a stairlift manufacturer that puts the independent dealer at the heart of its distribution strategy.
The company’s philosophy is that there should be much more to a manufacturer-dealer relationship than merely supplying quality products at competitive prices. It believes long term success and prosperity can only come from strong trade relations.
Two years on, it certainly looks like the strategy is working because popularity in MediTek stairlifts has grown so rapidly the company has had to relocate into new premises. The new premises are twice as big at the original in order to cope with the soaring sales and demand for its high quality and innovative products.
MediTek President, Phil Rice, said; “We believe that MediTek is the only stairlift supplier that puts the dealer at the heart of its business strategy and from day one we have been seeking a select number of, like minded, partners with a view to establishing a long-term successful, profitable and stable trading relationships.
Speaking of the move, MediTek Vice President, Chris Foss said; "I believe we offer dealers an unrivaled trading position; our products are designed and built to be versatile, durable and very reliable. We are operationally geared up to ensure rapid turnaround and delivery of orders. We provide knowledgeable customer, commercial and technical support and training. We don’t compete with our dealers and look to ensure all those in our approved network benefit from fair geographical exclusivity and receive sales leads”.
One person who now has his work cut out is, US Factory Manager, Donovan Gill, who explained the reason for the move; “One of the things I’ve come to recognize in business is that time is money. Any dealer who’s product offering causes them to spend endless, hours opening lots of boxes to assemble and install it, means it probably isn’t that good value for money, no matter how good the price. At MediTek, we appreciate the economic benefits of time and that is why our stairlifts are quick and easy to assemble and install and it is my job to see that’s the case. There are a great many things about the MediTek stairlift that suits the North American market well and it’s no surprise that interest has grown so rapidly over the past two years to the point we have had to relocate to larger premises. Everyone here at Apex is looking forward to continuing to supply the American stairlift, market great, easy to install and reliable stairlifts that deliver exceptional value for money and help our dealers businesses in the years to come.”
